Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
With this stunning debut novel, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver emerged as one of today's foremost authors of young adult fiction. Like Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why and Gayle Forman's If I Stay, Before I Fall raises thought-provoking questions about love, death, and how one person's life can affect so many others.
For popular high school senior Samantha Kingston, February 12—"Cupid Day"—should be one big party, a day of valentines and roses and the privileges that come with being at the top of the social pyramid. And it is…until she dies in a terrible accident that night.
However, she still wakes up the next morning. In fact, Sam lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she ever imagined.
Audience: 13+
Review:
I loved watching Sam grow as a person, and continue to learn every day she repeated! At first I really didn't like her, she was...well...bitchy. I still don't like her friends, even after the end of the book. She changed, but I don't see her friends changing. Lauren Oliver does an amazing job setting up the high school scene. I could definitely relate to the environment she was laying out. Some of the moments had me cringing, but in the end I liked the way it ended. It was a happy ending in a way. I am actually extremely okay with the way it ended. After everything each character went through, the more we learned, and the more Sam learned, I think that was perfect.
I wish I had read it sooner, but at least I finally got to it! It's a must read for all, and it's an important book! Plus it just hit theaters!!!
